Itinerant Teaching in Cameroon

The FES Itinerant Teacher, Carolyn Partridge, faithfully served the FES families for 2 1/2 years.  During the Joint Learning Sessions, Carolyn taught the grade 2 students this past year.

She visits FES village families for 2-3 weeks at a time and teaches the children, encourages the parents through conversation and prayer, and brings a welcome break to the routine of school.

Here’s what some of her students have to say…

It is always nice having Aunt Carolyn come to our house to teach us for a few weeks.

We get to do fun crafts and activities with her we don’t often do with Mom, because Mom doesn’t have the time.  When we can’t seem to understand a process in math, Aunt Carolyn will spend time with us making sure we understand what we are doing.  It is always a lot of fun.  When we are doing history, or bible it is also fun because she uses different voices sometimes. When we were learning about The war of the Roses she used a british accent the entire time she was reading about it.  It was great.

This is why we liked having Miss Carolyn come spend time with us.

She is fun and makes school fun.
She helped us learn more about music.
After school she taught us new fun games.
She taught us new fun songs during devotions.
Ethan and Clarisa S., grades 4 and 2
As a mother, it was great to be able to see how a trained teacher would handle specific subjects and also how she would deal with subjects that at times can be “boring” to teach. She was  a great spring board to bounce things off. Not only in school issues but also at many different levels. We agree that Carolyn or any trained teacher breaks our routine and provide “newness” to our homeschooling setting.
In a schooling village setting, any place become a great learning center and teaching is not dull if you take advantage of all the different “field trips”/ family outings!
